Fundraiser: Successful!

At the beginning of October, I asked for support to continue financing my blog and Shadows Project. The fundraising campaign was supposed to run for the last quarter. I asked, “Can we raise 50€ by the end of October?” Well, what can I say... I'm afraid I have to tell you that the fundraising goal has already been reached! A total of 225€ has been raised, and I would like to express my sincere thanks. This should cover the next year (or rather, year and a half) of normal site operation. 😊Every euro beyond the minimum costs will either extend the time frame or enable me to do things like travel to events (such as the 20th anniversary of Don't Offend) or use one or more paid services such as Proton or Prezi, or expand server capacity in case it becomes necessary at some point.

For your information: strictly speaking, “Spolek ČEPEK” is the correct name for the payee. If you omit the caron on the Č, the checking system used by banks to verify the names of recipients will give an error message, but if you ignore this warning, the transfer will still go to the correct account. So “Spolek CEPEK” is also okay, even though some banks may complain.

But I would also like to take this opportunity to address something that has been on my mind for a while in relation to this topic: Guess how many people have donated.

Two people.
Only two donations were received, which together make up this incredibly generous amount.
I think that's really sweet of them, although it also highlights a problem that probably affects every volunteer community: only a very small number of people bear the workload and the financial burden. From a mathematical standpoint, it would be much fairer if lots of people gave a little each. 19 people donating 1€ each month would amount to almost the same amount over the year: 228€. Only 9 would be enough to cover the approximate minimum of the running costs. I don't want to make anyone feel guilty here; on the contrary, I want to encourage you to recognize the power of many small things. Fittingly, the 2-cent expression my blog is named after (or “two lepta” in the original) comes from a story that is all about recognizing the little things and not being ashamed of them, but simply contributing what you can. Many little people—if everyone does what they can, it is more than enough. 😘

Thank you, everyone.
Thanks for the community that does make this all possible.
