Shadows Project – Progress Post I

Good news, everyone! In the background, I have been working on the redesign of Shadows Project for months, and starting today, I want to keep you posted on the progress of the project from time to time. Currently, the English text is completed. Since I wrote it myself with the support of DeepL, and DeepL often sounds a bit stiff, I asked a few native speakers to review it and provide feedback. I shortened some parts and made others sound more friendly.

At the same time, I realized that I had to revise a few of the contributions because there were problems with the design or I noticed errors. In one case, for example, uncredited third-party image material was used, which of course had to be removed immediately.

Next up is revising the theme and templates used by the website. Then comes programming the upload form and finally translating the texts into other languages. Volunteers are welcome at every stage!

And one more thing: anyone who wants to is welcome to submit new pieces for the gallery now already. Just send them via e-mail. The requirements are the same as before, and I've summarized them below:

  • Self-introduction: approximately 200-300 words long. Longer text may be shortened or splitted up.
  • The only required personal details are your biological sex and your nationality.
  • Age, pseudonym, and organization are optional.
  • The page-format is A4 (standard European printer paper size) 297mm × 210mm = 11.7in x 8.3in
  • Recommended resolution for image files: 300dpi (A4 = 3508×2480 pixels)
  • Please only use the following file formats: *.jpg, *.png, *.bmp, *.gif, *.svg, *.rtf, *.txt, *.doc, *.docx (Other file formats may not be readable for us)

Legal considerations:

  • If you use elements from external sources, they must be in the public domain (CC0) or licensed under a license analogous to CC-BY (please include links to the original and licensing information). However, using much third-party content would obviously kind of defeat the purpose of the gallery.
  • Shadows Project itself publishes its contents under CC-BY-NC-ND license.
  • If you use a specific fonts, please also make sure you have the right to use them.
  • By submitting your work, you grant Shadows Project a non-exclusive license to use the content.
  • Shadows Project accepts no content that is sexually or otherwise explicit, that breaks the law or infringes on the rights of a third party.
